For those that don’t know this, most of my retro/vintage posts are put into a queue and scheduled to come up on specified dates. This is especially true of holiday-related entries. I put this post in so long ago that all of the political pundits were still saying Republican primary voters would unite behind a "mainstream" candidate. As we now know, things didn’t end up that way. Because of that, I had to revise this post not only with this note but also to add "Almost" to the title. As awful as Nixon and Agnew were with their terrible effect upon U.S. democracy that is still felt today, if they were running in this election, I would gladly vote for them as opposed to those two far more frightening names, Trump and Pence.
