While the A. E. Staley Manufacturing Company finally dissolved from corporate history thanks to buyouts and mergers, it has one lasting legacy. In 1919, a company football team was started called the Decatur Staleys. Three years later after joining what would become the National Football League and moving, the team was renamed the Chicago Bears. The old company nickname lives on through the team’s mascot, Staley Da Bear.
