This place was still open when I first came to southern California in 1983. I think I only bowled there once. The main attraction for my friends and I was the coffee shop that, for a time, had good food and tons of vintage charm (although it was obviously fading and crumbling quickly). One could easily tell it was probably one heck of a place in the 50s and early 60s. As demographics changed in the area, not enough people were interested in bowling to keep the place open. The building is still there and mostly unchanged but it now houses The City of Knowledge Islamic School.
Does anyone have the recipe for Garey Center Bowl coffee shop’s “Home Fries”? They were the very best ! I would really love to know how they made them.
Thank you
Patti, I have never seen anything showing any recipes from the coffee shop were saved. Then again, who knows what somebody might have stashed away and has never shared online. Perhaps the best person to ask would be local newspaper reporter David Allen who often writes about such topics. All of the ways to contact him including the address for his personal blog can be found here: https://www.dailybulletin.com/author/david-allen/
