After spending a year developing the original orange formula, Niles Foster entered into an agreement with Clinton Foods in 1946 to make and market his new beverage, Hi-C. It was so wildly successful that, in just eight years, the Minute Maid Corporation came calling and bought all of Clinton’s holdings in Florida with the crown jewel of that purchase being Hi-C.
