Recently, Jordan reminded me that he had also been keeping a Top 100 of all-time list. He had mentioned this before and I had resisted making my own. The Atomic Hit Parade was tough enough with a cutoff year of 1966. With "classic rock" being my era of music, how was I going to trim down everything I love to just 100 tracks without beginning to weep uncontrollably over things I had to leave out?
However, I continued to think about it and I began to realize not only how to lay it all out but that I could get through it even though there would be some extremely rough decisions to be made. I began several days ago and the results are below…mostly…more on that in a moment.
The main thing to understand about this list is that it is indeed a personal Top 100, not what I think are the greatest, most important, or most influential tracks of all time. The songs I selected mean something extra special to me for extremely varied reasons ranging from lyrics that truly moved me to it being something that just happened to be playing when I was having a very good time.
In addition, never consider this list to be final until I eventually go to the big rock festival in the sky. Over time, certain songs creep into or fall out of being everybody’s all-time favorites and I am no exception. When inspired, I will come back to edit this post and update the date listed just above the table plus list what was added and removed below it.
The same as my Radio page, the table is organizable by column and searchable.
Well, here you go! Let the arguing begin!
