Listen, folks…if you’re still going to bind the whole thing together with a substance that is basically nothing but refined liquid sugar, you can stand a few more milligrams of butter. If you’ve been making them for the past whatever years just going by the recipe on the box, try it the old way. You’ll thank me.
Aside from having one of the last versions of Snap, Crackle, and Pop that were not just lame blobs of color, this advertisement features the original recipe for Marshmallow Treats. While Kellogg’s has the unmitigated gall to call what is on the Rice Krispies website The Original Treats™, some people know better. I am not certain when the original recipe from 1941 was deemed "unhealthy" but it was decided that the cereal should be increased by a cup and the butter decreased by one tablespoon….one measly tablespoon over something that covers an entire cake pan.
