Today’s Post is Cancelled

At the time I am writing this — about 10:50 p.m. PST on Tuesday night — it appears the 2016 U.S. presidential election is close to being decided. Even if there is a miracle reversal of fortune by the time any of you read this, what has happened will have repercussions for decades to come if not longer.

Like a lot of people that were anti-Trump, I am greatly devastated that, after what I thought had been so much advancement in this country, so many people could support a man who has not only done nothing meaningful to disassociate himself from the white supremacist portion of his following but also shows no sign he truly understands the message of Jesus Christ in whom he claims to believe. I’m no fan of Hillary Clinton, but I’m even less of a fan of fascism.

With that, for at least this day, I do not find it appropriate to celebrate this country’s past. This is especially so due to something I have often brought up here…that the retro/vintage/Americana items I present mostly excluded the types of people Trump has mocked. At least for today, the idealized version of America seen in the old advertisements and signs I post are a little too close to the type of world Mr. Trump seems to want to bring back…and what a terrible folly as it never fully existed in the first place.

After today…well, we’ll see. A lot of people are panicking at the moment and that is no state in which to make plans and decisions. I’m going to get some sleep and let a little time pass before I think about any changes I want to make in my life…as I cannot long ignore what I have seen.
